Anderson Silva: Weidman Shouldn’t Consider It A Win

It will go down as a loss on his record, but Anderson Silva doesn’t feel that Chris Weidman should look at his UFC 168 victory as a win.

Silva spoke about the fight in an interview with Globo and

“I believe that, if you pay attention to these technical details, you will see that (checking the kick) was instinct, not something that he trained to do,” Silva said.

“No, I don’t think (Weidman should consider it a win). It was an accident. And I’m pretty sure I would have won the fight.”

During the interview, Silva rewatched the fight and said he made some technical mistakes before throwing the leg kick.

“I can see some technical mistakes I did in the fight,” he said. “To land the perfect kick, I needed to distract him by punching him in the face so he wouldn’t pay attention to the kick. He was protecting the upper part of his body, and he raised the leg instinctively. The kick was so strong he lost balance.”

  1. LOL

  2. How could he consider it a win. He checked a leg kick. It was a FREAK accident. Should have been ruled a no contest.

  3. He owned u the first round. Who walked out with the belt?

  4. LOOOOL silva was getting pumped he nearly got stoped in the first round :L

  5. all I know is who has the belt. And who has the W on they’re record. Thats what counts

  6. He kicked your a$$ the same this fight as he did the last. You threw the kick, he checked it, calculated…game over, Chump not a champ

  7. Yeah, well I still say that guy in 5th grade didn’t kick my ass….but everyone watching says he did

  8. Very disrespectful to commit that hard to the leg kicks. You threw it on purpose, he checked it on purpose. And your arrogance once again cost you your belt. You lost!

  9. Silva is an idiot.

  10. Patrick Cote fight shouldn’t be considered a win too I guess then..

  11. Lightening struck twice for Chris….

  12. Silva needs to shut up, retire, and be remembered as the greatest ever. The more excuses he makes, the more respect he loses.

  13. Silva is the worst loser there is, both losses were ligit wins for Weidman, first he ko’d silva, the second he ko’d silva but no stoppage so he continued beating his ass, then checked the kick, so yeah Weidman won both fights you poor loser, he will do it again if you return.

  14. Lol Silva Is Butthurt

  15. Seriously Weidman didn’t do shit, Vito Belfort will beat him

  16. So his Cote win must not count to him?

  17. Does Silva remember that Chris already knocked him the the fuck out

  18. Vegas considered it a win so that’s good enough for me

  19. Christopher Fred Tafel

  20. Its a fucking win in my book. That’s like showing up to a drag race and saying a win doesn’t count because your motor blew up halfway down the track. What an idiot.

  21. and I suppose he shouldn’t consider Sonnen’s loss to him a loss either. What a delusional ass. Take your loss like a man.

  22. Excuses, sore losers

  23. Brian Johnson

  24. You people are morons. You give longtime MMA fans a bad name.

  25. wow talk about sour grapes?!!!

  26. Two fights, four rounds and Silva didn’t win NOT A ONE….Get over it!

  27. Come on….Anderson a win is a win, whether you get knocked out….oh shit you did the first time, or you cannot continue cause your a pussy or weak r you broke something….oh yea that was the second time you fight the same guy…..YOU LOST…PERIOD

  28. Silva has excuses for the sonnen fight and now the Weidman fights. You lost get over it already.

  29. I’m sure he is.disappointed but he lost, that’s all he lost.

  30. After 7 years his Achilles heel in wrestling has been discovered and there are now many fighters that can take him out

  31. What a poor sport! Weidman beat your ass twice lol!!! He had you out on your feet within 2 min of round one an continued to beat u up until you broke your leg. Not his fault u got week bones old man. Take it like a man am give kid his credit for both times he beat you!

  32. weidman wins by way of tko lost balance

  33. Steve Tenhouse says:

That broken leg must have also broken Silva’s memory. He lost every round against Weidman in both fights. I think Silva will lose many more times. Since he has been beaten twice, apponents wont be scared of him anymore. Same thing happend to Fedor.
