You can officially pencil in a rematch between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir as the main event of the UFC 119 show scheduled for September 25th at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Nogueira and Mir first met back in December of 2008 where Mir picked up the victory via technical knockout from punches just under two minutes of the second round of their UFC 92 contest.
Nogueira was reportedly suffering from a number of injuries and illnesses during the bout, which led Mir to a rematch with UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, a fight Mir would drop by TKO at UFC 100 in July of 2009.
This time both guys are coming off tough losses as each combatant was knocked out in the first round of their last octagon appearance. Mir was KO'd by former UFC Heavyweight number one contender Shane Carwin at UFC 111 in March of this year, while Nogueira was forced to look at the lights at UFC 110 in February by way of the new UFC Heavyweight number one contender Cain Velasquez.
The semi-main event at UFC 119 on 9/25, as we reported earlier today will be Nogueira's twin brother Rogerio Nogueira taking on top Light Heavyweight prospect and Ultimate Fighter winner Ryan Bader.
