Are you tough enough for NEF?

SANTA ANA, California (July 5, 2007) — Hundreds of combat fighters from as far away as France have already pre-registered for the initial tryout session of New Era Fighting’s “World’s Toughest Fighter Competition” on July 18-20 at Quiet Cannon (AKA QC’s in Montebello) in Montebello, California.

“We believe that there are different forms of tough men out there, ranging from good fathers to excellent businessmen,” NEF president Ron Kort said, “but that there are tough fighters around the world and New Era Fighting is providing the avenue for them to prove how tough they really are in the ring. For this reason we’ve changed the name from `World Toughest Man Contest’ to 'World’s Toughest Fighter Competition.'”

Tryout sessions also serve as scouting opportunities for NEF to sign fighters for its other planned shows. All fighters, experienced or not, are eligible to compete in the “World’s Toughest Fighter Competition” (WTFC) tryouts as long as they weigh a minimum of 205 pounds.

Survivors of the July 19-20 tryout session will advance to the next series of rounds, where they will fight each other in a tournament format to eventually determine 10 survivors. The 10 who emerge from tryouts, as well as fighters who’ve already signed NEF promotional contracts, will compete on a show in several months for the right to be crowned “World’s Toughest Fighter.”

The WTFC winner will then be offered an anticipated $1,000,000 winner-take-all purse to fight living legend Kimo Leopoldo, headlining a full card for a pay-per-view broadcast live from Las Vegas at a date to be determined.

The NEF “World’s Toughest Fighter Competition” initial tryouts will be taped and aired at dates and times to be determined on the Armed Forces Network and other International television networks for worldwide exposure in more than 25 countries.

Tickets, priced at $20.00 for July 19 and July 20, are for spectators, fighters are not required to purchase a ticket or pay a tryout fee.
Registration for heavyweight fighters, as well as female models, is currently being held online at and sign-ins for those selected from registration will be from 5 PM/PT to 8:30 PM/PT on Wednesday, July 18, followed by warm-ups and a rules meeting on Thursday afternoon. Fight tryouts are scheduled Thursday and Friday evenings, July 19-20.
