The latest rumor for the PRIDE Open Weight Grand Prix tournament is that Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira's first round opponent, still unconfirmed as of this writing, will be Zuluzinho.
Zuluzinho is the 400 lb. son of Zulu, the man famously beaten by Rickson Gracie. Zuluzinho has a 2-1 pro MMA record, beating Rafal Dabrowski by KO, and Henry Miller by TKO, before losing his last bout to the pound for pound king and most dominant Heavyweight champion in MMA history, Fedor Emelianenko.
Needless to say, this fight won't be generating a lot of excitement going into the show. The bout could always turn out to be entertaining, ala Nogueira-Bob Sapp, but on paper it's just another fight "that's there". This is the Open Weight tournament though, so we had to expect some unusual selections for big guys, and some unusual selection for small guys - something we haven't seen yet outside of Ikuhisa Minowa.
