Now that Dana White has officially threatened the lives of Rampage/Rashad, by offerering (yes I mean offering like a sacrifice) the winner of their fight a title shot against MAURICIO SHOGUN RUA, I am afraid that what we may get, come May 29th, is a double knockout after the first punch thrown.
Now, Im really not just joining the SHOGUN bandwagon, I have been a fan for quite some time. Lets just take a quick look at his record, 19-4, solid record, right... a better look at that shows an even better record. lets look at his loses, first loss came on his 4th fight at the age of 21 against Renato Sobral (sitting on a 24-4 record at the time, 2 of those 4 losses were decisions against dan henderson and Fedor Emelianenko). His next loss only came after nine straight wins, this loss was against Mark Coleman, and it was a complete freak of nature, he broke his arm on the way down from a takedown, bad bad luck. he later tkoed Coleman. he then had 4 wins, including a kneebar on kevin randleman, have you ever seen randlemans legs !? his thighs are bigger than most fighters waists.... anyway lts keep at his losses, next one, forrest griffin, hell I wont take anything away from forrest, but that was shoguns first fight in the ufc, and i think most would agree that shogun didnt look anywhere near the shogun we were used to. Well that leaves us to his last "loss" againt Machida, yes like millions of other fans, I do believe he won that fight.
Now back to page/suga, well page has fought him before, and for those of you that have seen that fight, you know what i mean by, it wasnt pretty (for page), Rua was pulling moves that you really only see in ufc undisputed, he didnt even knockout page, he made him quit. Now why do i think suga also wants no part of it, well although I understand that he beat Thiago Silva, t. silva was very very VERY close to knocking him out, in what I considered to be somewhat of an odd fight, and it was only months later that I found an article here on mmanews.com that said that t. silva had terrible back injuries during that fight, but didnt pull out because, if you remember, that was the freaky ufc were fights kept getting cancelled. SO if a sick T. silva was able to put his arms down chin up in front of rashad and almost knock him out , hmm Id say itd take less than 3.5 minutes for rua to put him to sleep. WELL that is why I think we might see a nasty double tko on the night of the 29th...
Few side comments
- I have nothing against Lyoto, I think he is a phenominal fighter, but please people, stop saying he was winning the fight till the point of the ko... hahaha the fight lasted 3.5 minutes!!! hahaha People said the same thing about the fedor arlovski fight...
- Please comment, I feel like people dont comment enough on blogs, I would really appreciate it
- Maybe ending with a question would help with my previous comment... I think the best fight out there for shogun (other than a down the line Anderson Silva matchup) would be lil nog, their first fight was amazing, and it did go to decision... what do you guys think?
