After injury forced Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira to withdraw from his scheduled UFC Live 3 meeting with Rousimar “Toquinho” Palhares, Palhares looked to potentially facing no one. Now, the UFC has made the announcement that promising new talent David Branch will fill the void and take on the leg-lock specialist.

David Branch is a Renzo Gracie pupil, and brings an overall record of 8-1 into the cage with him; two of those victories came under the UFC banner, while he suffered his lone defeat to Gerald Harris at UFC 116.

Rousimar Palhares (11-3) meanwhile has assembled a 4-2 record for the promotion. His only losses came at the hands of highly ranked opponents Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt. A win for Palhares will keep the Brazilian in the spotlight and the upper tier of middleweights. A win for Branch will likely catapult his stock through the roof.

You can watch these two wage war on March 3rd, when UFC Live 3 airs live on Spike.
