Brian Bowles Suffers Broken Hand, Update On Condition

The similarities between Brian Bowles' upset title win over Miguel Torres on Sunday and Mike Brown's shocking victory over Urijah Faber last November continue.

Following Brown's victory, the WEC featherweight champion revealed that he had badly injured his ribs towards the conclusion of the bout, and confirmed with Bowles' manager, Andrew Beach, on Monday that the new WEC bantamweight champion broke his left hand at the very end of his fight against Torres.

Beach said that Bowles will visit a hand specialist in Atlanta on Tuesday. He added that the new 135-pound champion will not be able to use his left hand in training for approximately six-to-eight weeks, but will be able to do light grappling and cardio work sooner.

Bowles officially knocked Torres out with a series of left hands on the ground, and Beach confirmed that it was those punches which lead to the hand break.
