Chris Weidman Talks About Fighting Vitor Belfort, Chael Sonnen’s Issues

At this week’s UFC 175 media day from Las Vegas, UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman spoke about a number of topics, including performance enhancing drugs, specifically as it relates to Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen.

When asked about a potential fight against Vitor Belfort, Weidman said he’d probably ask that Belfort undergo additional testing for PED’s. Having failed two drug tests already he joked that Belfort has the testosterone levels of a horse and is growing a tail.

Regarding Chael Sonnen’s departure from UFC and FOX Sports as a result of his latest drug test failure, Weidman said:

“I feel terrible, you know, Chael came out with his first statement, he got completely on my side, I think. I could understand where he was coming from. Vitor, Wanderlei, I wasn’t on their side. I think they’re obviously doing something. And Vitor got tested, he was way over on the TRT or whatever it is. But, Chael I felt bad for.

Then those second tests came and it’s just, like, I still love Chael to death, but it just kind of opens up your eyes with what some guys could be doing. And it pissed me off. So, I want guys to be tested as much as possible; blood tests, whatever can be done.”

As reported earlier this week, Sonnen is still scheduled to headline the upcoming Metamoris 4 event against Andre Galvao, which takes place on August 9th at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.
