Dana White Thinks Bjorn Rebney Is A Scumbag

UFC President Dana White never typically has anything good to say about his competition and things with Bellator President Bjorn Rebney are no different.

Earlier this week White was questioned about his thoughts on Bellator and Rebney and didn’t hold back his feelings. White is not pleased with Bellator for the way they have handled situations with star fighters, namely Eddie Alvarez and Ben Askren.

“Bjorn Rebney’s a scumbag,” White said earlier this week. “The guy says, ‘Yeah, we’re going to let him go. Let’s just part ways.’ You ain’t f—ing parting ways with him. He’s got a matching right and all that bulls—. This guy is a fucking typical boxing piece of s—. Everybody knows the guy is a scumbag.

“We’ll see what happens with Ben. First they say they’re going to let him go. They’re not going to let him go. They’ll probably end up suing him too and make him sit out and lose a bunch of money and f— him in a deal. Bad guys. They’re bad guys.”

Dana White is angry because Bjorn was smart enough to put in a matching clause in the contracts of his fighters. That is bad if you want to get completely out of your contract ASAP. But if you have a few months it works out better , because the UFC cannot simply lowball you. Any fighter who thinks Dana White will not “Don King” you doesn’t understand the contractual fight game. The matching clause helps to prevent that from happening, becuse if the offer is too low, Bellator will simply match it. Dana knows if he pays a Ben Askren what he is worth, Bellator can’t touch it and the UFC will still make money… but the Askren camp will get more money Dana’s tightfisted hands want to pay out. I completely understand Dana’s motive, but that’s just the cost of doing business. Stop having heartache with the “farm leagues”- There is more talent out there than the Ultimate Fighter series can harness. Reap them when they’re ripe.
