The California State Athletic Commission will hear the appeal of UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Los Angeles, according to CSAC Staff Analyst William Douglas. The commission fined the Minnesotan $2,500 and suspended him for one year after he tested positive for the anabolic steroid Nandrolone Metabolite following his successful title defense against Hermes Franca at UFC 73 in July.

Sherk’s attorney, Howard Jacobs, confirmed his legal team is investigating the lab documentation pertaining to urine specimens taken from his client. Jacobs also said Sherk’s supplements were being tested.
