Demian Maia To Fight Anderson Silva For Title At UFC 112

<p>Looks like it didn't take long for the UFC to find a new opponent for Anderson Silva following a should injury that has pulled Vitor Belfort off of UFC 112. All signs are pointing towards Demian Maia stepping up too the plate to take a stab at dethroning the middleweight King.</p><p>MMAMania.com was first to confirm the news and MMANews.com has been able to confirm the fight with a source close to Maia. The fight has been verbally agreed to and contracts are likely to be signed early in the week.</p><p>It was reported earlier in the day that Chael Sonnen, who many believed may get the title shot after his performance against Nate Marquardt at UFC 109, would not be in consideration for the shot after speaking with UFC match maker Joe Silva. Sonnen is on medical suspension until March 9th which likely played a role in the decision. Sonnen does have a loss to Maia in 2009.</p><p>Maia is coming after a win at UFC 109 against Dan Miller after he suffered his first career loss to Nate Marquardt last year. He holds a career record of 12-1 and is 6-1 in the UFC.</p>
