The “curse” of UFC 108 has struck again, and former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk (33-4-1 MMA, 7-4 UFC) has suffered a deep cut in training and has been forced to withdraw from the Jan. 2 event. News of the withdrawal was first reported by The Northwest Indiana Times.
Coming to the rescue is a familiar name: Duane “Bang” Ludwig (19-9 MMA, 2-0 UFC).
Ludwig now fights Jim Miller (15-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) at “UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva” at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas according to an additional report from MMAWeekly.com.
Ludwig is no stranger to the big stage. The 31-year-old fought twice for the UFC between 2003 and 2006, but “Bang” has also made appearances under the Strikeforce, Sengoku and K-1 banners.
