Roxanne Modafferi Injures Shoulder, OUT of War of Roses

Porto will have to wait for shot at FFF Lightweight Championship.
Japanese great Hitomi Akano to replace Modafferi.

(Los Angeles, CA, October 29, 2007) — Fatal Femmes Fighting Championship is back Saturday, November 3rd at the Ontario Convention Center (2000 East Convention Center Way, Ontario, CA 91764). Fatal Femmes Fighting Lightweight Champion Roxanne Modafferi has sustained a shoulder injury preventing her from flying to the United States to defend her title against Brazil’s Vanessa Porto. Japanese great, Hitomi Akano (11-4), also ranked Top 10 in the World for women at 135lbs, will replace Modafferi and face the seemingly unbreakable Porto. Although there will be no title on the line, this fight will be dubbed a “FFF Megafight,” as is customary for a fight of this magnitude. Also on the card, FFF Flyweight Champion, Lisa Ward, goes up in weight to fight the pioneer of Japanese Women’s MMA, the legendary Megumi Yabushita. Yabushita/Ward will constitute the second “FFF Megafight” of the evening and is the co-main event of the night.

A.J. Benza, current host of “High Stakes Poker,” and Muay Thai Champion Lisa “The Black Widow” King (“Fight Girls”), will provide colorful commentary to Fatal Femmes Play by Play announcer Jay Adams.

“War of the Roses” is presented by Fatal Femmes Fighting Championship along with sponsors Throwdown Industries and TheBestGuard.com. The event features lightweight, featherweight, flyweight, super flyweight and middleweight match ups for a full night of all women’s mixed martial arts.
