Former Ultimate Fighter: Brazil winner Rony Jason has tested positive in his official UFC Fight Night 67 post-fight drug test.
Jason, who submitted Damon Jackson in one round in Goiania, Brazil on May 30th, tested positive for the diuretic hydrochlorothiazide, and as a result, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) overturned his victory to a “no contest” ruling.
Additionally, Jason received a nine-month suspension and is expected to lose his $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus.
Jason spoke with MMAFighting.com shortly after the news broke, and denied taking anything illegal before or after the fight.
“I’m talking to my nutritionist and UFC doctors,” said Jason. “The only thing I used on the day of the weigh-in was vitamin C, so we’re checking if any of the medication I used for my ankle injury has something to do with it.”
