We're talking about who the #1 contender is as of this moment. It is Weidman. He made that claim when he beat Munoz 6 months ago. Since then, he not only hasn't lost that claim, instead made it more credible given that 4 other top contenders dropped out of the spot with a loss (Bisping, Boetsch, Lombard, Belcher). Weidman also has better wins than Rockhold, whose biggest win is Jacare. UFC doesn't want to see Belfort and Okami fight Anderson Silva again either. The two superfights (GSP, Jones) doesn't look like it's happening either. Who else is there?
If Lombard beats Okami impressively, they can build that up, but if he loses, it only establishes Weidman more solidly as the #1 contender. Not saying that he will get the shot, as they could easily go with Rockhold for the champion versus champion billing, but let's not kid ourselves to thinking that anyone else is the #1 contender besides Weidman at this point.
