Yeah Riv I was more talking about the Nevada athletic commission...saying why not push hair follicle tests if their going to be so strict with something as harmless as marijuana. I'm not even sure if it's in their jurisdiction to even attempt that, but I kind of assumed it was considering they seem to be the "big brother", if you will, of all of the athletic commissions. I know the UFC doesn't care, just seems like a gap in logic exists if you ask me.
But I live in Missouri so things would likely be more expensive in Nevada and most other places. 24 fighters @ 150 a piece comes out to $3600 so I figured it would still end up being less than 5 grand in other places, but even if not, it can't be much more.
There are more in depth hair follicle tests that are more expensive, but still, a standard test would be more effective than urinalysis. The place I went had 5 bar tests for $150 and 10 bar tests, pretty sure they were close to $300. I can't remember exactly as it was a while back, but I just remember hearing an outrageous amount when the lady at the counter was asking which level of the test I needed to have done.
There are definitely your typical advocates like Riddle that can get annoying, but to me, those people are going to act the way they act either way...I doubt he was any sharper back in his elementary days before he'd ever smoked any weed...he just doesn't seem very smart at all. But he's been smoking since 13, so who knows...
It is dumb for people like him and Diaz to just not apply for an exemption, but I personally agree with some of the things he said...and I just think they were used to being able to quit a certain period before a fight and still be able to pass a test, and weren't worried about it. I mean, I honestly don't know much about steroids or cycling but it seems guys would have an easier time cycling those right before a fight than trying to get some pot out of their system. But realistically, AC's probably don't care much more than the UFC or any other org.
