Welterweight Paul Daley made his return to the ring this weekend after more than six months on the sidelines due to a few contractual issues, showing once again why he’s one of the most exciting fighters in the sport by scoring a flying knee knockout in the second round of his clash with Patrick Vallee at a Cage Contender event in Dublin, Ireland. The strike-based stoppage was his 24th in 31 total wins but came after Daley nearly locked up a Triangle Choke early.

The submission attempt opened a few eyes, showing Daley’s all-around attack is improving rather than remaining stagnant. “Semtex” spoke about the win shortly after scoring it, telling Fighters Only Magazine he was working hard to get better on the ground.

“People sleep on me since I got cut from the UFC. I’ve had a few decision losses…and people are trying to forget about me and push me to the side. I’m not disrespecting any British fighter, but I honestly feel that, pound-for-pound, I’m the best UK fighter,” said Daley of his performance. “We can do it old school PRIDE open-weight tournament. I’ll fight anybody.”
