It is difficult for the tall guy to get their underhooks in because they can't properly get their arms under the shorter guy's arms to trap them, and the shorter guy's lower power base and center of gravity can really screw a tall guy up during a takedown.

I remember clearly having to break up many brawls between big tall clumsy guys and shorter, stockier, faster more agressive guys and the tall guy was usually getting his ass handed to him while he was on his back.

Whether it was in a bar, at a sporting event or whatever...it was generally all the same. Big guy mouths off to small guy, small guy doesn't back down, big guy starts fight, small guy takes big guy down quick and starts customizing his face, invites him to take a nap, or adds a new bend to a bone or joint somewhere that nature previously hadn't provided.

Monson has made a career out of dropping tall big guys on their back and making them tap out for a long time...and his short losing streak started years ago when his old trainers and managers convinced him to drop down to LHW, and immediately ended quickly when he went to ATT and they told him to get back up to HW and stay there where he belongs.

Since then he has been undefeated in 16 fights, and most of them were by submitting guys Tim's size.

You guys that say he can't deal with Tim's size, Tim's height, Tim's reach, Tim's hands, etc....obviously have never seen Monson fight in person.

It's always about training and experience, not media hype and size...and Monson clearly has the advantage there.

It's been said a lot already about this fight...but I guess I still need to repeat it:

It never the size of the dog in the fight...it's the size of the fight in the dog that makes a winner.
unfortuneatly monsoon hasnt faced anyone with the size and skill of silvia. silvia is a smart fighter, hes gonna be prepared to use his takedown defence. monsoon was finshed by ricco rodriguez and hes not known as a heavy hitter?? whats he gonna do against the maniac?
