Let me start by stating that I Cannot Stand Tim Silvia, and that I think Pride is hands down the best, most competitive fight organization in the world, THE BEST!!!!
That being said, I have to say that Tim Silvia is no coward, no matter how much I wish he was, otherwise he would not have taken the fight with Assuerio Silva, and I also have to admit that the only only reason any fighter is drawn to PRIDE FC is the payday, I also have to say that without a doubt the UFC is not the stumbling block in the Wand-Chuck fight. What people are missing is what the true stumbling block is, Wand's paycheck!!!!
PRIDE fighters make more money, plain and simple, UFC may have sent Chuck over to fight in the GP, but that is good business. If he loses, the only people who know anything about it are nerds of the sport (like all the people who read this post, not to mention the man writing it) who also know that loss doesn't mean much. Chuck went to Japan, got a good payday, and if he wins great, if he loses all the Japanese fans cheered against him anyway, so what does Dana lose.
PRIDE definitely talks too much shit, but don't underestimate the power of the almighty dollar. These companies don't owe us anything as long as we buy the ppvs no matter what!! If you don't like the way an organization does business, watch another that is the beauty of our sport. We posess the only sport that is in the control of the fans.
No one likes the pro wrestling comparison, but when fans of the WWE decide that they hate a wrestler, and that they love a different wrestler, invariably these two "warriors" find themselves working a match together. WHY?!?!?! because thats what the people want to see. MMA fans take a lesson please.
