Thumbs down UFC scoring

Ok guys I don't understand it so someone please fill me in. I mean it seem's like the judges play paper, scissors, rocks over who wins the rounds. I think that BJ Penn clearly won the 1st round but I think Hughes took the second and third. BJ stood up connected with punches and displayed wonderful takedown defense in the 1st round but in the second it was Hughes who got the take down and GNP'ed Penn for nearly 3 mins when Penn rolled him over and attempted a submission that failed....why in the world would that round go to Penn? For an attempted submission after nearly 3 mins of dodging and getting hit with elbows while in half gaurd? I think Hughes won that round by a long shot. And to topp that off Matt Hughes said he knew that he had lost both rounds, I was like did I miss something? Same thing for the Keith Jardine/Stephan Bonnar fight. Jardine was clearly the aggressor and kept very active connecting with punches and also swelling Bonnars thighs with leg kicks and although you can argue with me on Hughes/Penn Round 2 no one can argue with Bonnar/Jardine...the UFC needs to sit down and really figure this scoring thing out. I don't think that a fighter who clearly won the fight should worry about losing due to judge number 1, 2 or 3 winning paper,scissors,rocks...
