I'm disappointed, but not surprised at all.
TUF is a business, and one that has very little to do with the fighters themselves...it's about bringing in new fans and hyping TUF finales [and stalling a normal progression of title fights]; and far less about showcasing what the sport is about.
It's nothing more than a reality show. If nothing else, May's "scheme" get Jesse Taylor kicked off is a direct illustration of it being just like every other reality show out there.
I find it funny [in a sad way] that there is more drinking/housewrecking than actual training, but I think the casual fan doesn't care about training. They care about upper deckers and drama. But I guess that's why TIVO has a FF button.
I'm sure Mike's article won't enamor the UFC brass to him; and I don't think he's got the skills to make it in the UFC regardless...I'm assuming he'll be with another promotion fairly soon. But I'm glad someone finally spoke up.
All manner of men came to work for the News: everything from wild young Turks who wanted to rip the world in half and start all over again -- to tired, beer-bellied old hacks who wanted nothing more than to live out their days in peace before a bunch of lunatics ripped the world in half.
