So it looks like Hatton's onto Malignaggi then, but if he beats Paulie, what next for him? Witter's out of the picture for the meantime, Pacquiao still has to prove himself at lightweight, let alone super lightweight, especially when a third huge money megafight with Juan Manuel Marquez comes up as an option. I think for the moment, all Hatton could do until a megafight comes along is to consolidate himself at the top of 140. Hatton/Ricardo Torres is a guaranteed action fight, provided Torres gets by Kendall Holt. And if he beats Malignaggi, he inherits Herman Ngoudjo as his IBF mandatory. And considering Timothy Bradley took out Junior Witter, he's an pretty good option as well.
I like this. Let DLH and Hatton go their seperate paths. As much money as they would make together, they really don't need each other to make money in a fight that really wouldn't mean much in the long run to either man's legacy (at least not to DLH). |
I agree with most everything you say. I just don't understand why you would not fight DeLahoya. I mean, I undersand that he is probably too small and would get beat, but if you really want to test yourself and make a ridiculous amount of money in the process...its' right in front of you...take it.
How many MMA fighters, and I mean the top tier best of the best, would kill to be a able to make the kind of money Hatton would make. Not to mention for the fans. Malignaggi is boring to me, I understand his speed and accuracy and ability to move well. It's just that a guy without even the outside chance of knocking out someone else bores the hell out of me. Not to mention I can't stand to hear him talk.
I'm not fond of Sergio either, though I will admit he looked good the other night, I don't want him to get the DLH payday.
And I know for sure that Salvy Mic is right about DLH promising his wife that he would not fight any more Puerto Ricans, but somehow I think that will be overlooked when it comes time for Cotto.
Cotto is the man to fight DLH. I don't care about the outcome. I just know that these are two guys who will come to fight and deserve the payday they will get for truly putting it on the line.
