Yes, Shogun had a knee injury before the fight, and couldn't train properly. He had his first knee surgery days after the fight, but didn't publicize it or discuss the injury as an excuse, because he doesn't make excuses; he's a fighter.
As for not believing the Shogun hype "anymore" didn't you already say you thought he was overrated going into the Griffin fight? I'm curious as to who you think was better than him?
