i would have barnett over lesnar in the hw rankings even if lesnar beats Mir if mir beats lesnar he's still below Barnett as well Barnett has been more consistant over his career and unless he loses to someone beneath him in rankings i keep barnett at 2 behind Fedor |
Barnett has been pretty thoroughly trounced by Cro Cop and Rizzo, two guys who don't exactly have stellar takedown defense, so I still don't buy Barnett as being top of the food chain grappling. I also don't think people should call Big Nog over the hill just yet. While he looked bad against both Herring and Mir, both fights went very badly for him. He was clearly beating Herring but got caught with a huge head kick, and still managed to outbox him for the remainder of the fight which in my mind is a huge accomplishment. Against Mir, alot of people don't see his boxing against Nogueira as a big deal, but I think it spoke volumes. He used pretty creative combinations (he landed what I believe was a jab-cross-semi over and over, in practice its not the easiest combo to use), and looked to have excellent timing as well.
