With all respect to Fedor, it was a stupid move to turn down a hell of an offer to fight for the UFC, even if it was just a one fight deal! I think Fedor has a choice: fight highly ranked guys and PROVE that you deserve to be ranked #1 in the world, or keep fighting guys that are past there prime, on a down swing in their careers, and nobody's. The latter would keep him ranked #1, but at what cost to his fan-rep. If he doesn't give a shit about what people think of him that's fine. It's the fans that make you famous, not you.
I heard Mir is calling him out. Fedor vs Mir in Japan maybe? |
I disagree with almost everything you said but just want to touch on two points.
1) Do we know what the offer Fedor turned down was? It might not have been what he would consider "a hell of an offer"
2) It was not the fans that made Fedor famous. I hate this attitude. Why is it so prevalent on these boards? It was not the fans that busted their asses at the gym or stepped into the ring and destroyed everyone they faced. It was Fedor. He worked hard to get where he is. We didn't vote him in. Additionly I think most of Fedor's long time fans are ok with him going to strikeforce. It seems to me that it's mostly UFC or Brock fans that are upset with it.
