No you step into it so if you are to do a right kick your left leg will step out and then you shift your hips into it as if you were swinging your leg like a bat (most of the power comes from your core). Now have the intention of going all away around but know you are going to hit your opponent and when you do after the impact push back with your shin into fighting postion. This is frickin hard to explain with only text...lol
