Middleweight Robbie Lawler has been officially scratched from Strikeforce: Evolution on Dec. 19, according to sources close to the situation.

Lawler, 27, was scheduled for a main card bout against Trevor Prangley, but Prangley withdrew Monday due to an injury sustained in training.

As many as five candidates were under consideration to face Lawler, said one source, but none apparently fit the bill and the bout was called off Wednesday afternoon.

Lawler has fought but once in 17 months, a submission loss to Strikeforce middleweight champion Jake Shields in the main event of a Showtime broadcast in June.

At this time, it is unknown whether Lawler has been rescheduled to another card. A Jan. 30 card slated for the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. is nearly filled, according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker.

"Evolution" features a headlining bout between former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le and Scott Smith. The HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. hosts.
