I've never really taken a shot to the liver - and I'm certain it's very painful - but from my understanding, unless it's a truck that hits you, you are probably fine after a little while and no lasting damage.

This, in contrast to a Cro Cop (PRIDE era Cro Cop) LHK or an Overeem flying knee. I think Ramma is right - you are not the same person again after taking one of those.
