He certainly does have striking skills, maybe not the greatest and certainly not stellar but keeps his stance tight and crisp and in no way is just swinging when he engages.
Submission skills, wow, how the hell do you know? Because he doesn't put people in submissions suddenly that means he doesn't have the knowledge or know how of doing them?How about avoiding them or neutralizing them, isn't that showing that he knows of submissions? He does very well know of submissions and using it defensively, just because you don't go out and be Royce Gracie doesn't mean you don't know submissions.
