To beat a good wrestler you just need the correct skillset:

1. Takedown defense/balance
2. Correct distancing/footwork (dont be in range unless you are striking)
3. Takedown offense (understand mechanics so you can understand reversals; also if you are on top the wrestler is not)
4. JJ from bottom, specifically guard, wrist control, leg locks
5. Great lower body conditioning and balance (legs)

Of course it depends on the opponent but if you are great at any of those things, in that order of importance, youll give the wrestler a hard time. Defend his shot or force them to shoot from too far away, and you will wear them out mentally/physically as well as force them out of their comfort zone. Takedown defense imo is by far the most important wrestling skill in mma. A lot of wrestlers arent used to working from the bottom, so a good takedown offense can be a good takedown defense if you arent good at defending the takedown. Good JJ from the bottom keeps you comfortable no matter where the fight goes. Good lower body conditioning and balance will get you off the ground when the wrestler puts you there. It takes more energy to shoot in, pick you up and put you down over and over, than it does for you to stand up if you have the balance and conditioning to stand up at will.
