The criticism stems from the fact that none of the guys listed in the post were ranked top ranked fighters,
and he
still didn't finish them. They were--at best--softly ranked by some sites--perfectly illustrated by how quickly dropped entirely right out of the rankings once the title hype was over--and he did
nothing to bring the fight to them.
People criticize Georges for being conservative--justifiably so--but Anderson is no different. GSP plays it safe on the ground, Anderson uses reach advantage and mobility to play it safe standing--against guys who aren't even great strikers.
Granted, there was a period where Anderson was chasing a record so he could cash in against RJJr, but it's hypocritical to accept his motivation for conservative performances and simultaneously disregard Georges'. Much like it's hypocritical to disparage the quality of Fedor's opponents--who
were ranked--after he beats them, but not do the same to St. Pierre's or Silva's.
