The criticism stems from the fact that none of the guys listed in the post were ranked top ranked fighters, and
didn't finish them. They were--at best--softly ranked by some sites--perfectly illustrated by how quickly dropped entirely right out of the rankings once the title hype was over--and he did nothing
to bring the fight to them.
People criticize Georges for being conservative--justifiably so--but Anderson is no different. GSP plays it safe on the ground, Anderson uses reach advantage and mobility to play it safe standing--against guys who aren't even great strikers.
Granted, there was a period where Anderson was chasing a record so he could cash in against RJJr, but it's hypocritical to accept his motivation for conservative performances and simultaneously disregard Georges'. Much like it's hypocritical to disparage the quality of Fedor's opponents--who were
ranked--after he beats them, but not do the same to St. Pierre's or Silva's.
All manner of men came to work for the News: everything from wild young Turks who wanted to rip the world in half and start all over again -- to tired, beer-bellied old hacks who wanted nothing more than to live out their days in peace before a bunch of lunatics ripped the world in half.
