I think it's ridiculous that Fitch would compromise his chances of winning a UFC title (surely what all fighters aspire to be) just because he doesn't want to fight his friend, Kos. On one hand, his loyalty to, and respect for Kos is admirable, but on the other it's just plain stupid.
Sure, Fitch has a tough road ahead of him whichever weight-class he fights in, but to give up the chance of being named the best welterweight mixed martial artist in the world just because you don't want to fall out with your mate? Oh, and to then demote yourself to the middle of the middleweight ladder. That's just ridiculous.
To reiterate what Dana White has said a million times, mixed martial arts is a sport, and a business. It is a sport, so fighters do not fight because they hate each other, or want to seriously hurt each other. They fight to test their skills against other fighters that are considered at the top of the sport. Simple.
