Randy is awesome for what he done for the sport but I think in 30 years when we look back on MMA it will be his accomplishments outside of the fighting aspect that really helped MMA. His demeanor, professionalism and candor will all be missed.
He's a tough fight for most people but I still think the beloved admiration he recieves isn't in line where he actually is as a fighter. Take out his two last "freakshow" fights and his record is 17-10. |
agree with most of your post but the bold i have to address..
yes the toney fight was a freak show but how is the mark coleman fight a freak show? it was the first time 2 ufc hall of famers fought and was a ledgend fight (people are calling for cc/randy just based on that its a ledgend fight)
yes you can make the argument that coleman is passed his prime but look at his previous 5 fights. hes 2-3 in those with wins over shogun (i know a fluke with shogun breaking his arm) and bonnar and loses to shogun, randy and fedor.
i for one wouldnt call the coleman fight a freakshow. it was a fight between 2 pioneers of the sport. not the most competitive but a fight between 2 ledgends, 2 hall of famers, and 2 pioneers of the sport.
