Can someone explain to me why it deserved a Fight of the Night?

One of the most lopsided decision victories by GSP in his career (strongly due to his gameplan) and Josh gets a bonus?

Undeserving. Other fights on the card deserved it....fights on the undercard Rafael Natal vs Bongfeldt deserved it or Sean Pierson vs Matt Riddle....or John Makdessi vs Audinwood. Makdessi vs Audinwood was a dominant performance but Audinwood kept moving forward and throwing punches. Josh kept moving forward and then not throwing...then getting punched in the face 2-3 times and then throwing a punch into the air.

I think they gave Josh the bonus because he was respectful and quashed the whole situation and tried to defuse the fans and make himself likable....nothing to do with his performance in the cage. The Kos that Kos was trying to tell the world about didn't show up.

In my opinion he did not deserve the bonus.....maybe give GSP a domination bonus, but just being there to punch doesn't warrant a bonus. Maybe I'm just being hard on him, but I think there were other fighters on the card that have much smaller contracts and earned far less money for fighting much harder than Josh did...risking far more than Josh did. Josh had a shot at the belt and with 40 seconds left in the last round he was simply looking up at the clock for the fight to finish....he had given up and wasn't risking everything he could do.

I think Josh got the bonus for being a good company man, not for being a Fight of the Night.

There were 2 submissions and both guys split $50k....on a card that has over 4.6 million at the gate.....Lesnar vs Velasquez got a little more than HALF of that.

I was surprised that there weren't more bonus' dealt out....but this doesn't have much to do with fight metrics.

Back to CompuStrike or fight metrics...the UFC really needs to start tracking that shit during the fight. Numerous times during the Kos vs GSP fight me and my friends really wanted to know the numbers on how many jabs GSP threw and it sucks that it takes 2 days just for that information to come out (officially) I am sure the UFC has someone on staff that could keep tally on strikes....Strikeforce car do it with the help or CompuStrike.

PS....guess most my post belonged here - http://www.mmanews.com/forums/genera...-its-over.html
