If a fighter has proven to be good enough to be given an opportunity to fight in the biggest MMA organisation in the world, to go in the ring to entertain hundreds of thousands, or millions of people, they should be paid well for it. |
i have to somewhat disagree with this for a few reasons
1. the smaller promotions cant afford to pay these fighters more
2. the hometown fighters who get a shot to fight in the ufc because there promoting a show in there home town do not deserve to make bank being unproven and getting a chance just because they are the local guy.
3. if your new to the fight game why should you automatically get to make bank without first proving yourself and earning the contract. sure you would get more fighters, but you would get guys in it for a quick buck and not the passion for fighting. i think you have to earn your way up
4. there have been numerous threads about fighters saying the ufc took care of them behind the scenes. not all pay and bonuses are disclosed and i hear a lot more about fans complaining about fighter pay then i do any fighters.
