i don't like to see someone get nailed in the face four times after he's clearly unconscious, but that responsibility is solely on the referee.

There is a fine line between an early stoppage and getting struck an extra 2+ times....or getting choked for an extra few seconds. All depends on how reliable and how educated the referees are.
