Jake lost two of his last three? We don't rank on the last three fights. Jake lost to Georges when he was solidly ranked as the #3 WW in the world. Before that fight, he hadn't lost in something like 8 years, and he remains one of the few fighters to actually take a round from Georges in a title match. So losing to Georges as the #2 WW--in my opinion--dropped him from 2 to 3. Shields getting caught doesn't move Ellenberger ahead of him, because Ellenberger just doesn't have the solid resume that Shields has...yes, he's on a streak, but he's getting more solidly ranked as a top 10 fighter before moving forward.
When you have two softly ranked fighters that face each other, the outcome can dictate huge swings in how their ranked. When you have a softly ranked fighter facing a solidly ranked fighter, the outcome has impact, but not as dramatically as with softly ranked guys.

Im not by any means a shields fan but his rank at WW should be top 5 at least. Fitch just got dropped by Hendricks but i would take Fitch in about 8 out of 10 rematches there. Anyone remember who Hendo's last loss was to? Before he went on this tear of mauling anyone 185 lbs and heavier? yea, it was Shields. Shields is alot like Fitch in the respect he gets and what he SHOULD get. You dont have to be a fan of how they win fights but when they rattle off years of wins in a row...give them their due please.
