Plus I don't like the idea of last minute replacements being thrown into a title match without ample time for training. As you all know if they lose then the excuse will be "Well I took this fight on short notice to appease the fans".

Either the UFC does the event correctly or don't do it at all. Either way its the same result, "Pissed off fans".

The JDS vs Overeem fight is what people wanted to see. There is no other substitute on the UFC roster that would be equally gratifying for fight fans.
So the UFC should wait, then have Overeem most likely fail his sample B (just about 100% of people fail their sample B after their sample A fails) only about a month before the title fight and shut down the event and lose out on millions of dollars. This is why you will never ever run a business.

Or the smart move would be to move in Frank Mir who will probably sell more PPVs then Overeem. Mir is arugably the most popular HW in the UFC among causal fans and the most well known at the moment since Lesnar left. Every single person who knows anything about the UFC or MMA in general knows who Frank Mir is. Thanks to his TUF run as a coach, headling UFC 100 and headling several other cards. I am willing to bet JDS v. Mir would outsell JDS v. Overeem by at least 50K possibly 100K. And those people who say no just have no idea how popular Mir is among the causal MMA fans compared to JDS and Overeem.
