In the same time span since Shogun got destroyed by Bones, Rashad beat both Tito and Davis dominantly. Shogun beat Forrest and lost against Dan Henderson (controversial, but still a loss). How could Shogun be ranked above Evans based off of that? Infact, Shogun has only beaten Forrest, over the hill Chuck, over the hill Coleman, and Machida in his entire time in the UFC. I honestly just dont see how you could rank Shogun over Evans who has only lost 2 times in his career and just took Jones to the 5th round for the first time in his career. |
MMA math is a term used to describe how people think one fighter would beat another fighter based on their resumes. It doesn't work.
On the other hand, good rankings are based on resumes. So it's not MMA math.
Neither Tito nor Davis were ranked when Evans beat them. Forrest was ranked, and so was Machida, both times. You could also argue that--and I do--that Shogun beat Henderson, who was also ranked.
So--even by your logic--in the same time-frame that Evans beat nobody who was ranked, Shogun beat several ranked fighters. Thus, I have him ranked higher than Evans.
