It was meant to sound retarded. Every interview he has made in his media character was meant to sound absurd, that is how he created his own hype. Surely you don't take what he says at face value. Sonnen is successfully pulling off a Kaufmanesque personality to keep his name relevant and in people's mouths. That's the genius of it.

Sonnen used to fight at LHW. He dropped down years ago to gain the power advantage that he has in MW today. There is no way he will move back up nor should he. Sonnen can make a decent living being a perpetual top contender at Middleweight. All the bullshit he spews about the belt or nothing is just him hyping himself up. I don't think he will do something that will take him backwards in his career.
