this article...lol...

Shogun isn't a guy that has taken a massive amount of damage in his career. Has he been in a few wars? Of course. Shogun, when compared to most fighters, is pretty average in the damage taken department. Especially when compared with other strikers. Where is this mass amount of damage everyone seems to be talking about? Compared to who? Anderson Silva? Yes, compared to Anderson Silva, Shogun is Big Nog.

This "writer" is portraying an image that is false (no surprise, it's Bloody Elbow). Shogun in his under 30 fight, 10 year career is not full of Dan Henderson and Rogerio Nogueira fights (and notice, those are the only two real examples he gives). Shogun isn't Nogueira, Wanderlei, Jardine, Forrest, Chuck, whoever. Those are guys where you have to think about physical health and brain injuries.

He hasn't taken massive amounts of punishment or been through countless grueling fights. The guy has mostly first round (or 2nd round depending on how you want to count the first round in PRIDE) finishes.

Of course, his body has taken the same wear and tear as anyone who has been fighting for 10 years. There is nothing special about "Shogun's situation".

I have more to say, but why bother? This article is...what it is...
