You definately hit the nail on the head here.
Let's just say for a moment, that Bisping beats Stann and the GSP/Silva bout isn't the next match-up for Anderson(which I think may happen if Dana wants to do his Super Bowl in early July as he's said many times)....Given Bisping's massive name value and mainstream recognition, he seems like a logical next matchup if only because it will be viewed as a "big money" fight. However I think that a win over Vitor would've been the perfect counter-argument for Weidman for who "gets next" and by not taking the major fight in Vitor, it unfortunately denies Chris the exposure and big time cred needed when his name is up there with somebody like Bisping, who is far more well-known, even if he's not as worthy of the shot.
IMO, a potential win over Vitor, coupled with the wins over Maia and Munoz would've rammed the #1 contendership down Dana and Anderson's throats and I don't think anybody could argue in the least. Without that major feather, regardless of if he deserves the shot, his name and mainstream marquee value may not be enough to get him the nod....
