I actually agree that it is an easier stylistic match up for Cormier, although I'm not sure if that was the reasoning behind it...
Mir has no chin, and while he does have a great ground game, he doesn't have near the wrestling to get it there. Sylvia is actually pretty decent in the clinch, and when you factor in his reach, it might not be as easy of a fight for Cormier as alot of people think.
Plus, you can't go off of Sylvia's performances where he weighed a sloppy 310+ pounds, as he would have to weigh at least 265 or lower if he were to fight Cormier...but damn, that was a pathetic fight against Wagner. He literally just backed straight up against the cage. Why not try throwing a hard straight at least, if a guy is coming at you throwing wide punch after wide punch?
Of coarse Mir did own Sylvia when they fought, as he pulled a Thiago Alves or Melvin Guillard if you will and took Mir down only to instantly have his arm snapped...but stylistically...I think Mir is a little bit of an easier fight for Cormier...
