So does anybody have any confirmation when or if this fight is actually happening? 3 rounder or 5?
While I don't agree that Dan should be out of a title shot, I do like this fight. Especially if Jon Jones needs time off to heal. We're coming up on a year since Hendo fought last and if Jones isn't ready, perhaps he should take the Machida fight. On top of injuries and the frequency these UFC cards are coming at us I think we've got too many name brand fighters holding out for money fights. Guys like Rashad, Henderson, Condit need to fight more than once every 9-12 months. Their presence could really bolster some of these thinner booked pay per views we've been having.
As far as Machida coming out as the favorite, I believe Dan has hit the age (much like Couture did) where he'll probably be the underdog for the rest of the fights of his career, at least against the top tier fighters. A big reason he edged out Shogun was his ability to out brawl Shogun and steal the early rounds. Then he gassed. I can't see Machida getting caught up in that type of fight. A three round fight could be interesting but I see a five round fight going all Machida with Henderson fading after going balls out, out of the gates.
