Actually, his question was the awkwardly phrased "Didnt anyone honestly believe SF was doing good pre-Zuffa? which I translated to "did anyone think SF was doing good before Zuffa bought them." I answered it. Yes, they were doing good. Like the UFC, they had problems and like the UFC, they weren't close to living up to their fullest potential, but they were far better than a "good" org.
Your paraphrase is loaded, and no, I don't think they were sinking when zuffa bought them. I think there were leaks, that were deliberately allowed to get worse and worse, and new holes were drilled.

I don't think this can be answered with any authority by anyone who wasn't in on the sale, but I'd guess it's because the shareholders wanted immediate gratification and as sniggles indicated, a return on the investment. Zuffa had been making them fight for every dollar, and suddenly, there is retirement-worthy money available.
