Cain didn't beat JDS before JDS won, so he had to fight his way back. This is the same that happened with Arlovski and Sylvia. Tim lost to Arlovski, had a couple fights then beat Arlovski, they then did the immediate third fight.
That being said, your assessment is what I think will happen, if AO wins his next fight. If he doesn't, I beleive JDS will get the immediate rematch.
