So have any of you ever met any really good grapplers?
I met Marcelo Garcia at Grapples Quest beast of the east 3 (Well sort of) I went with one of my friends from BJJ and he asked me to get him something to eat, so I go open the gym door and Marcelo is standing 5 feet away from me. I literary stood there with my mouth open he smiled and walked into the gym, where he preceed to destroy everyone.

I met just about all of the grappler's at the last ADCC, It was a great time.

Not to mention the gracie's who were not in the tourny that were there as well as Josh Barnett. Josh was the coach for a couple of females in their respected division.

If you consider Bean a grappler then yay, he trains at the gym I used to do BJJ at.

EDIT: he's standing on something btw, I tower over him IRL.

nothing that exciting.

i ate borscht with the Emelianenko brothers.

did a coreography dance with Akihiro Gono

i whined and bitched with Gabe Rudiger

was tutored by Carlos Newton in Medicine

Coleman taught me how to jump the ropes

Liddell taught me how to party and Sylvia how to ruin a party

like i said, nothing that great.

but on a serious note, i've met Manny Gamburyan numerous times. Every where we go we see him. Very humble person.

Wrestler...Mark Kerr. He was friends with my old friend Steve Judson. Also my trainer was an Abu Dhabi Combat Championship quarter finalist in Lightweight. Jeff Funichelo was a Pan Am silver medalist I forgot if it was in Greco or Judo though it's been a while. Trained with him every once in a while also.

I met Eddie Bravo at the Fight Night last week and got a picture with him. Really cool dude. I was amazed though that I seemed to be the only person who knew who he was besides Frank Mir. He was cage side and sitting near Evans, Marquart, and Diego, but I think I was the only person who recognized him. After the event I saw him talking to Frank so I went down and introduced myself and got the picture. Honestly meeting him for me anyway was as cool as going to the event itself.

Eddie Bravo is definitely a cool guy. I attended one of his seminars and it was just an awesome experience over all. Can't believe no one else recognized him, I miss his scoring rounds.

How was Mir? Obviously from my username he's my favorite fighter, so it's always nice to hear what other people think about him.

He was really tired cause I was the last person to get a picture with him and he had already done over 20 as he was leaving so he seemed like a dick but thats totally understandable. He's a pretty big guy though.

I got to meet Randy Couture very briefly when he was the strength and conditioning coach at Oregon State (before MMA). I met Mark and Dave Schultz when I was like 5 years old. They signed my shoes. But I have never met anyone with any significant BJJ knowledge.

Yeah I've met a couple. I got the chance to train with Flavio Almeida (Ricardo's younger brother) at a Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seminar at my academy in Bloomington, Illinois. It was undoubtedly one of the coolest moments of my BJJ career.

On another cool note, Dustin Hazelett refereed my match at NAGA in Milwaukee before he became a name fighter. I got beat by an Americana lol.

I want to meet Ken Shamrock in any match he wants. Call me out, I have been calling you out for months on all site, and have nothing but respect for you. I want to gain my respect by meeting you in a cage fight some day before you are to old to breath without help.

lol... I'm only famous in my own mind.

I did meet Robert Drysdale last weekend at that tournament. I have to say... he didn't seem like a cool guy, but I don't think he really wanted to be there, so I'm not going to get down on his attitude.

You know, you'd figure Pedro Sauer would show up to one of his affiliate schools (the one I train at) once in a blue moon. He lives an hour away and has yet to make an appearance to my school. Matt Serra was supposed to do a seminar at my school but then he hurt his back :(

I had Kurt Angle and Kendall Cross as instructors at a wrestling camp in high school. Angle threw my ass around in training and told the group he had been contact by the then WWF. Angle let us know he laughed at the offer because he would never be envolved with "acting". Boy how times have changed.

i train under tom murphy (TUF2) in vermont. hopefully, when i get better i'll go up to tristar with him to train with GSP, david loiseau and the gang. tom learned much of his bjj from julio 'foca' fernandez, who also teaches closeby.
