Pistons fan all the way, but sadly I dont see them winning anything. I cant even predict who will win because its so damn wide open this year, but since my fave athelete on the planet is Kobe i went with the Lakers. Im not confident that Boston will pull it off, but they definitely have the east.

Lakers.. just look at the bracket

They play the Nuggets first round.. thats a win, Nuggets dont have the consistency or the defense to beat the Lakers

There gonna have to play the Jazz or the Rockets in the 2nd round.. either one is a win. Neither team has a big man, neither team has the talent to beat the Lakers

Of the 3 teams they may have to face in the semi's... The Suns, the Spurs, and the Mavs (the hornets are a first round exit) Kobe wont allow Shaq to beat him in the Semi's.. no way in hell. The Spurs.. thats a tough matchup but overall they struggled vs the Cavs because they couldnt double-team Lebron and guard the 2nd options on the Cavs team.. good luck trying to double-team Kobe and guarding even better 2nd options on the Lakers team.. plus with Gasol and Bynum.. they should be able to keep Duncan at bay.

The Mavs.. give me a break, thats a win for the Lakers if the Mavs happen to make it to the Semis.

As far as the east is concerned, You got 3 choices... Pistons, Celts, and Cavs.. Lakers will beat all 3 especially the Pistons. Celts will give them the most trouble, and the Cavs would be classic but.. Celts are making it to the finals in the east anyways.

the lakers easily beat the pistons? the lakers lost to the pistons when they had kobe, shaq, malone, and payton, that after winning 3 in a row from 2000 to 2002. the west is def a better conference, but the pistons and celtics can hang with any of the west teams. the spurs and lakers are the best in the west, so one of them will face eaither the pistons or celtics. i dont know who will win, it is very open, but i def cannot see the lakers beating the pistons. what makes you think that anyways? not from recent matchups, that is for sure. and the pistons have been beating up on the top west teams this year. they easily beat phoenix by 30 at phoenix, then beat them again without their usual leading scorer, rip. i can see the spurs beating the pistons and celtics, but not the lakers.

the spurs vs. lakers arguement is funny too. this lakers team is not better then the kobe and shaq lakers back in the early 2000's. back then they fought close with the spurs but usually got the better hand, once shaq left the spurs dominated the west for the most part(sure not all the time). gasol and bynum and not known to be big defensive players, not that they are not good. but they will def help on the offensive end. do you really see them keeping duncan at bay? all around the spurs are a better team. fisher will not be able to handle parker, manu will be a big contribution, and the spurs have a lot of role players. the spurs, celtics, and the pistons are the 3 best teams in the nba. they all have a excellent all around team with great help from all the players. the lakers are the 4th best team in the nba and are a level below those 3.
that to add that bynum will probably not be close to 100% during the playoffs. im not anti lakers, i just dont see them winning this year. everybody keeps talking about how the spurs are the best nba team over the past decade, imo winning 3 in a row like the lakers did when shaq was there was much more impressive then 4 titles in 8 years.

Why do you keep comparing teams to back in 2003-2004 etc? The Spurs team isnt the same team either, neither is the Pistons teams.. worry about right now instead of 4, 5 years ago.

The Pistons are my team and Im the first one to admit that they dont have a chance this year. Yes. I'd love to believe it, but it just doesn't seem realistic. They're championship team from a few years ago was a one pop thing. Thats what bothers me about the management, is that they refuse to get away from that starting 5. Its a great starting 5, but it has fallen out of the playoffs ever since. They needed a little adjustment to get them back over the hump, but they seem to think it all has to do with their bench. I see another semi-final knockout in the works once again.

WCF: Suns...As for Kobe not letting Shaq kick his ass?? Well I don't think he has a say in the matter... When the Diesel is motivated nobody beats him. Kobe still gets his ass whooped even if he scores over 50 a game.

ECF: Detroit... They have Bostons # if you watched during the season when they beat Boston they didn't just beat them They dismantled them.

NBAF:Suns...This is just hope Detroit probably will beat them because of experience.

If Boston Plays the Lakers I know it is all fixed and a bunch of crap.

Even if Shaq is motivated, hes still old.. and an overpaid decoy at this point in his career.

I dont see how it would be fixed, everyone is saying Bostons the best team in the NBA so why would it be far-fetched to see them in the finals? Detroit havin there # in the regular season doesnt mean they can beat them in a 7 game series.

I just don't believe Boston has what it takes in the post season. Garnett never is like Cliff Robinson in the post season. So wee will see what pans out. I don't like traditionalists that all ways want their same favorite teams to win and Boston vs. Lakers is just so obvious of a marketing scheme it sickens me. The regular season and their records are just proof to me of how the NBA licks their nads. Look at the disproportionate calls with h toes teams. Your not the kind of guy who is so naive to think that both those teams are just that good at avoiding fouls and when they do foul somehow they are always personal fouls not Team fouls??

Well thats David Sterns NBA for ya, I mean its not just Boston and LA that gets this kind of bad reffing.. just look at the Cavs game a few days ago for example.. but im been saying Celts/LA before the season started so its hard for me to think that its conspiracy if the two teams make it.. even if that may be the case I mean I wouldnt doubt it, I dont trust David Stern.. but im not gonna go against my prediction.

washington-cleveleand and spurs-suns were both great games today. the eastern conference finals will be boston vs. detroit, and the team that wins that will probably win the finals. the spurs would be a tough team for eaither of them to beat. and yes the pistons bench is everything for them. they have a good starting 5, but not the best. but they def have the best bench in the nba. im a big pistons fan and didnt think they could win it last year, but this year their bench is so developed and they beat good teams with the bench getting a lot of minnutes. there was a lot of talk of the pistons getting t-mac or garnett in the past, but it never happend. how can you be mad at the pistons management? its not like they sucked. it could have turned out that the team was just another team with a star, that doesnt have a supporting cast, or it could have been a great move that made them a dynasty. who knows, but eaither way the pistons management has been great. besides san antonio over the past 5 years, they have been the most consitantly good team. the only really bonehead decision was when they passed up on carmelo and wade in the draft a few years back. that still pisses me off to this day.

Uber, what are you talking about with the Pistons having the Celtics number and dismantling them??? They played 3 times and the Celtics took 2 of 3, and it should have been 3-0 if not for the stupid Tony Allen foul in the first game, which allowed Billups to make freethrows with no time left.

But go Celtics!!!!!!! I don't know why they couldn't win in Atlanta, but I think it partly has to do with the team not playing a meaningful game in so long. They've got the intensity back now. It's gonna be a fun series with Lebron in town.

If the Celts get to the Finals, I'm goin! Tickets to all 4 potential home games baby!!!!!!!!

GO CELTICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And in the West, I'd love to see New Orleans beat the Spurs and end up makin it to the Finals or I'd like to see a Celts vs. Lakers.

Chris Paul is a monster. Im just glad that Kobe beat him out for MVP (Im pretty sure its a done deal right?) Kobe deserves it this year. His game has been so well rounded, even times when he comes out of the first half with over 20 points, he starts to get his teammates involved. Im so happy to see this part of his game, now nobody can get on his ass for being a selfish player.
I wish there could be two MVP's, only because it is amazing what Paul has done this year and for that franchise.

Haha okay buddy. Are you Mike Bibby? There's obviously a ton of bandwagon fans for all of our teams (Sox, Pats, Celts) cuz they have all had a ton of success, and I don't like it. But if you knew anything about New England sports, you would know that the Boston fan base is probably the most loyal of any place in the country. When the Spurs took those two games at home I thought it really shook the confidence of the younger and much less experienced Hornets, but last night David West really showed me something in his game and Chris Paul was just doing his thing once again.

At the end of the day I think Utah will be too much for Lakers, even thought LA has home-court. LA will NOT win a game in Utah, but I feel as thought the Jazz can pull out a close game in Los Angeles. I actually picked the Jazz to win the west just prior to the Playoffs starting, so we will see.

As for the east... well, it's almost a joke. Boston has to learn how to win on the road against inferior competition or they will lose to Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals, or possibly even the Cavaliers in this series. If LeBron can show up for just ONE game in Boston and go for about 35 without taking 46 shots, the Celtics are going home for the year. Game over in Boston.

Detriot already wrapped up their series against an Orlando team that simply could not lose out games, but in order for them to contend for the title, Billups has to be healthy and contributing on a consistent level or the Western Conference Champions will dismantle them in the finals.

It's official....Sports Illustrated wants to see Pistons/Spurs in the Finals.

My Lakers got out of San Antonio with the well-deserved win, even though they let the Spurs hang around 'till the end. I knew it would end the way it would, close and nerve-racking, but the W is all that counts. The Lakers now just need to close out back home, and I would prefer they do it in emphatic fashion.

It looks like Ginobili blew his wad in Game 3, because he played like ass tonight. Simultaneously, Odom played well and came through big at the end. That was the difference.

Fuck! such a close game last night up to the end. There were some calls the refs missed and some bad calls as usual. Oh well, not the first time refs make bad calls or miss something. Ginobli also has not been performing like he should and that has been hurting the Spurs.

I dont believe there has been one time in history that the Spurs have come back from a 3-1 situation but there is always a first time for everything. I know it is a way long shot and prob wont happen but the Spurs are not just going to give up.

I know, but that was the best picture of Kobe I could find where he's still wearing the #24. Besides, in a way, it's my way of brushing off D'Antoni's statement at the beginning of this season...."it's alright, we'll bust 'em in the playoffs like usual."

And for the record, the 3-1 thing was from 2 years ago bro. But this trip to the Finals definitely makes up for it. All I need now is for the Celtics to hold up their end of destiny.

This series will go to the celtics.....I am a fan and will be at Game 1 and 2 but that aside......I do not see why people are thinking this is a easy win for the Lakers. My main reason for this is because the Celtics and Pistons were the #1 and #2 defensive teams in the league both in the east. My point is the West relys mainly on its offense. They are not use to playing teams with a good defense never mind the # 1 d-fense. Thats why there scores in the west are ussually 120-115 or 130-120........You never see that in the east. The D is going to be the deciding factor in this....Celts in 6...maybe 7

Dude, the Lakers just beat the Spurs, one of the top 3 defensive teams in the league. I'd say they know how to play against a team who relies on their D, and more importantly, know how to win. Besides, what happens if the Lakers start running on the Celtics? Could the Celtics manage to hang in a game that gets into the 120s? The Lakers, to me anyway, have shown they can win low-scoring games as well as the high-scoring ones. I tend to like the Lakers' speed, energy, and youth over the Celtics' overall toughness and experience.

This series goes no fewer than 6 games, and I think the Lakers take it in a hard-fought series. I have no illusions as to how difficult it would be, but I just think Kobe's gonna be HUGE, and the bench is gonna come up big. I gotta keep the faith....it's our time.

And I sure as hell didn't expect the big fucking names involved! KOBE, PAU, ODOM - GARNETT, PIERCE, ALLEN.

Just awesome. The stars alligned, and I sure as hell hope we snuff Boston out and go on to reign once more...LAKERS. :)

I was right there with you on that one, I wanna see the Lakers beat the Celtics while there at there best, it would take to much away from the finals without Pierce there.

Also, Kobe took way too many outside shots, he needs to be driving it and drawing some fouls, and that double team on defense was leaving an open man way too much. Oh well the Lakers will re-group and get it together.

Black Mamba style is what you saw last night - Kobe tearing the Celtics up and taking over in the fourth quarter. Symptoms from a black mamba strike include dizziness, dehydration, and losing. Central nervous system shuts down, Celtics blood pressure rises, and balls tighten up 'cause game 4 is coming up! :valh2:

The calls weren't nearly as bad as they were in Boston. Odom played like shit, and Gasol didn't step up - The Celtics got beat by a guy with a string around his head. And it wasn't too long ago that Boston nearly blew a seventeen point lead or whatever in their own house, in the fourth quarter.

But whatever. As a Lakers fan, I was shitting bricks that whole game 3. So I'm...Still worried, hah. I swear to fucking Christ, Gasol and Odom need to fucking learn how to fucking DUNK. And Radmonavic needs to suck less. Quick.

There in no way The lakers are even close to the celtics all around. If you have not seen that this season or in this round of the playoffs your mistaken. I do not understand the "The Refs sucked that why we lost excuse". Did you hear Doc or the Celtics complain about last nights calls? Phil Jackson is a baby and has not been able to win a championship by starting from scratch. He has always had superstars to work with in all of his Championship teams. He is not a great coach, he had great players. As for him as a player he was not that good at all, He was a role player at best.

And comparing Kobe to Jordan is a insult to Mike. Not saying you said that but i been hearing that for the past week. He is not even close to Jordan. Jordan won 6 championships, 5 MVP's and averaged 5pts more a game in his career. Jordan also won those championships becuase he was the best in the game and he played with a lot of people he made good. Kobe would not of won shit if it was not for shaq. Kobe still will not win this year either. Lakers are finnaly seeing what happens when you play against a team thats the best d-fense in the league. This series will be over in no more than 6 games, celts by defensive domination.

The way he somehow inspires his teams to play great defense is extraordinary IMO and besides the superstar players a team has, a team is only as good as their offense and Phill has proven that his triangle is the shit and seemingly always gives his teams a chance to win until his superstar players have to take center stage.

Even when Jordan left the Bulls made it to the eastern conference finals.

All Jordan had was Pippen, and the rest were mediocre at best, with the exception of Rodman. But all he does is rebound.

Jordan made that team better, period, but even that wasn't enough many times as he had to single handedly take over games and scorch the opposition, whether it was shooting their eyes out or ducking on half their team. Good luck on finding another Jordan. Not even Lebron is as dominant and most people say Lebron is the best in the leage right now.

Until Lebron can actually finish a game and make shots in the clutch he'll always be a step behind Kobe.

As far as Kobe/Jordan, Jordan was a much smarter player than Kobe and was better at running his offence and making his teamates better. But on straight talent and physicall ability you can compare Kobe to Jordan, Kobe's Defence is better and there both clutch, good at drawing fools, great jumpshots, and great driving. You couldn't put Kobe on Jordan's level yet but when its all said and done it could be close.

Everyone is talking about how Garnett and Pierce didn't show up last night, yet Odom and Gasol haven't shown up at all this whole series. If Phil can get those guys active this could be a whole new series. If not just wait till next year when we get Bynum back. :grinsmile1:

There is absolutely nothing Kobe bryant does better than Jordan and here's the career stat comparison:

Kebe Bryant- Career -- G 866, GS 718, MPG 36.5, FG% 0.453, 3P% 0.340, FT% 0.839, OFF 1.2, DEF 4.1, RPG 5.3, APG 4.6, SPG 1.5, BPG 0.5, TO 2.94, PF 2.70, PPG 25.0

There is no way that you can compare Kobe to Jordan. Kobe is my favourite athelte on earth, but I would never make a statement like that. That being said, Kobe is by far the best player in the league today. He plays great basketball on both sides of the ball, and as he evolved his game to become an unselfish player, he absolutely deserved the MVP this year. Why does everybody forget, Gasol has not been there all year. Bynum isn't even in the lineup.
Phil Jackson is a great coach, and the Celtics also have an all-star lineup.

The scene is Los Angeles' City Hall Plaza, where a large group of Lakers fans congregate for what was supposed to be a parade celebrating the 2008 NBA championship. What they got instead was a powerful concession speech and a message of hope … well, sort of.

Thank all of you. Thank you so much. Well, this isn't exactly the speech we planned on giving, but we sure enjoyed the ride.

(Cheers)

This was a long road, you all stuck with us the whole way. You never left us and we love you for that. We have so many people to thank. To the basketball experts, analysts and columnists who stood by us, who said we were a team of destiny and that we we would win it in five. To all of the fans around these United States who remained loyal and committed when it was easy to hate us for our newfound success. To those who invested so much of their time in arguments trying to explain to people how we were a TEAM now and no longer a one-man show. To those who have the purple and gold in their hearts and encouraged us to fight even when we seemed to be overmatched against teams we were not supposed to beat until next year.

Well, next year came one year too early, don't you think?

(Loud cheers)

Without Andrew Bynum, no one gave us a chance. They all said we'd go down. Even with Pau Gasol. They said we'd get out of the first round but go no further. Yeah, well look what happened? Look what happened in Denver, look what happened in Utah, look what happened in San Antonio.

(More loud cheers)

We entered this race, this race for a championship, because we have an old-fashioned conviction: that Lakers fans deserve a ring. And this year was the year we planned on bringing you one. We didn't, but until that day comes you can always find us battling until the end. Trying to restore the fundamental aura of excellence that you have grown to expect and demand of us. And one day, we promise, that day will come.

What can we say? We tried. We knew coming in it wasn't going to be easy and that we had our work cut out for us. But we really believed that in a seven-game series we'd prove that we were the better team. But this time it just wasn't meant to be. So right now, we have to congratulate the Boston Celtics on their world championship.

(Long, loud boos)

No, no, no. They earned this and we must respect that. They played hard and did some things that we weren't necessarily expecting. They made great adjustments. Their defense was better than any we'd seen. Their bench out-mobbed ours, their coach outcoached ours. Their veterans exposed our youth. We lost the third quarter in every game. And almost every game it seemed like they had some unsung hero step up for them that we just were not prepared for.

We know it was supposed to be a classic. A throwback to the series that took place in the '60s and the '80s. All of the hype: the rebroadcast of old games, the magazine covers, the Bird/Magic "There Can Only Be One" spot. It was supposed to be a battle of the ages, a series that restored the rivalry. Instead it showed that we still have a lot of work to do to get to their level. With all of the talk about how dominant the West is compared to the East, they showed themselves not only to be a formidable opponent but one that we must concede is superior. Hey, if we beat the Jazz in six and the Spurs in five, what do you think the Celtics would have done to them had they faced one of those two teams in the Finals?

There was a lot at stake for us. Phil Jackson taking over Red Auerbach as the coach with the most NBA titles, Kobe establishing himself as a winner without Shaq, the organization trying to prove that it is the greatest franchise in NBA history despite the fact that the other guys have won more championships. All of these things played a role in the extra pressure that was placed on us to win. They were all things we felt we could overcome, but ultimately we couldn't. And the next time we'll know how to handle these things differently, because they will be less of a concern. Hopefully.

Our youth showed itself in Game 4 when we amassed that 24-point lead and lost it. It was the same 24-point lead they had on us in Game 2, but because they have players on their team who have so many more years under their belts than most of our players, they kept the lead and home court. And even though we didn't admit it at the time, we can say now, after a couple of days of letting it soak in -- something we learned from Hillary Clinton -- that loss in Game 4 was the tipping point. That game emotionally and psychologically drained us. We said at the time that we were going to take it "one game at a time" after that, but we knew right then when Ray Allen got that wide-open layup with 16 seconds left that it was over.

(Silence)

But there's no reason to be discouraged. So we got our asses handed to us in the Finals. It's something that has happened to many teams before and they've all bounced back. Right now we can't remember who those teams are, but we know they exist. And if they don't, then next year we'll be the first!

(Cheers)

So today, we are standing in front of you saying: Yes we can!

Yes, we can win a title! Yes, we can overcome this defeat! Yes, we can one day beat the Celtics! It is true that some changes will be made and some of the players who are on this squad will not be a part of that movement. We will work hard to get players in here who can defend Kevin Garnett and know how to box out and play help defense. We'll work hard to get players in here who do not rely on multiple 15-20-foot shots to get them out of shooting slumps. We'll work hard in not letting the referees or the foul shooting disparity mentally mess with our heads (or at least not make postgame comments about it). We'll work hard to make sure none of our players reach this stage and are "confused" on the court. We'll work hard at getting players who are not defensive liabilities to the point that other players' faces light up when those guys check in. We'll work hard on finding a James Posey, P.J. Brown and Sam Cassell for ourselves next season. We'll work hard to build a team as "complete" as the one we just lost to.

And we will work hard to get back here. Harder than we've ever worked before, harder than any other team in the league. And next year it is our pledge to prove to you that your support and your continued belief in us is all we need to reach our goal. This Finals will be the turning point to the future of the championship coalition we are trying to build. And even though losing to Boston the way that we did was unexpected, it is the best lesson we could have learned.

Which is why this time next year, by the grace of God and Mitch Kupchak, we guarantee we will not be the team giving this speech.

We can't promise you that it will be the Celtics, but it damn sure won't be us.

(music: "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey)

(Loud cheers/applause)

Thank you again. God bless you all. And God bless the Lakers.

^^^^ Dude, that is hilarious. The funny thing is, I think you nailed it pretty much verbatim. You should go into speech writing, my friend. I hope the Celtics end it tomorrow.

i WISH EVERYONE JUST LISTENED TO ME WHEN I SAID CELTS WOULD TAKE IT ALL....now all you L.A fans are going to be upset....but do not say you did not hear it from MONSONBYCHOKE....You were going to loose.....Kobe will not win a championship without another superstar.......No shaq this year........He is not Jordan....Jordan could win without a superstar...
Yet Jordan never won without a superstar so whats this logic?

whAT Superstar did Jordan have??? Your not talking about Pippen i hope??? Or Grant or Rodman??

None of them are what you would call SUPERSTARS, role players yes. Jordan hands down made that team. Do you remember how Pippen played after Jordan was gone?? Not to well. Jordan made those guys good.

I respect your opinion as always but i disagree

We'll just have to agree to disagree on Jordan and the superstars he had next to him. Completely. 'Cause that's insane.

Now, back to the series. Game 4...Was heartbreaking. I didn't even watch game 5 tonight because I love the Lakers so much, hahah. I'm convinced I'm the reason they lost, and so I opted not to watch tonight and: tada. We won.

But yea. It's not over, but fuck.

Fuck.

Pippen was ranked in the Top 50 greatest players of all-time, and lead the Bulls to 50 wins by himself.. thats not a fuckin "role player" by any stretch of the imagination.. Pippen was a superstar hands down.

Do I remember how Pippen played after Jordan was gone? he lead them to the playoffs! it was Pippen's own work ethic and attitude that didnt lead them further.. do you remember that? sitting out the final quarter when his coach asked him to get back in the game?

Pippen was a superstar and he did lead the Bulls to the eastern conference finals twice.

Jordan on the other hand, wins titles! Also, I think it was Jordan that instilled confidence in the Bulls to be that good, even after he left the first time. The Lakers and celts are All Star teams compared to the Bulls mediocre role players.

its not striking a nerve, I just disagree bro.. I mean to add to it.. Scottie is only one of 5 players in NBA history to lead his team in Points, Assists, Steals, Rebounds, and Blocks.

What I am trying to say I guess is Kobe had the most dominating center in baskeball in the last who knows how many years. Some people would debate shaq was the best ever, not me but some would. Yes Scottie was a very good player. In saying that I believe that Jordan on his own with half decent players could still win the titles he won. He just made his team better on every aspect of basketball. Now Kobe on the other hand has not showed me that he can win without another superstar on his team I guess that was my point. I think without Pippen Jordan still would of been finding a way to win those titles.

Any team Jordan goes to is a automatic contender when Jordan was Jordan.

As Magic once said

"There is michael Jordan and then there is the rest of us"

Ya I agree with that, but u have to agree with the fact that Jordan may be the only player you can say that for.. and Kobe is still the closest thing to Michael Jordan that the league has seen thus far.. he'll more then likely not surpass Jordan.. but theres really no doubt in my mind at this point that Kobes gonna claim the 2nd spot. I dont really have faith that Lebron will surpass Kobe or Jordan when its all said and done either.

I will agree he is a super player no doubt just do not think he is on Jordans level. I do not think he will surpass Jordan I think you can list Kobe second along with a couple of other players from the past.

Also I am suprised Paul pearce does not get more recognition around the league. IMO he is very underrated and not just because I am born and live in Massachusetts and I am a celtics fan. If he was on any other team I would be saying the same thing., He is a awesome player.

Jordan won 6 titles where he was the leader of each team (he won the finals MVP each time). This includes the one in 98 where Pippen was most definitely at non allstar levels due to his back injury. Kobe has yet to win a title where he leads the team and heck, he still only has 1 MVP compared to Jordan's 5 (and Paul really probably should have gotten it this year). He played second fiddle to Shaq for all his titles. Jordan was also much less disruptive to his own team, as Kobe has frequently been over his career.

Kobe is probably just outside the top 10 all time right now. He might get inside the top 10 in the near future, especially since the Lakers should be good for a number of years with Bynum, Gasol, Odem and the rest. But I dont see any way that he cracks the top tier of guys like Jordan, Bird, Magic, Wilt and Russell. Him having a VERY poor finals in his first shot with his own team really is going to hang over his head unless he wins a bunch more, especially since he was thought to have the superior team behind him ahead of time.

As much as it pains me to say it (a pain, I might add, I've drowned with several shots of Cuervo Gold), congratulations Boston Celtics. You guys played your asses off and we didn't. Frankly, you deserved to win. Kudos.

My only wish now is that you guys stay good enough next year so we can have the opportunity to kick your asses in the rematch. When we get Bynum back for a whole year, and when we dump Radmanovic for a 6'8"-6'10" rebounding/defensive beast to come off the bench, as well as let the bench guys learn to play smarter D, the Lakers' time to shine will come in '09.

God damn, it's been a tough year for me. The Patriots lose the Super Bowl (as L.A. doesn't have an NFL team, I adopted the Patriots as soon as the Rams moved), UCLA loses in the Final Four, Chelsea loses the Champions League final, my beloved Lakers lose in the Finals, and I've lost my job, it's no wonder I'm so content to drink such cheap tequila to drown my sorrows. And yes, I'm very drunk as I type this. I'm typing very deliberately at the moment. At this rate, I almost hope my beloved Dodgers don't make it to the playoffs, just so I don't have to suffer through this sort of pain again this year. But God hates me, so that's why I've had to suffer this year.

WAR Lakers!!!!!!! We lost this year, but St. Kobe will lead us to the promised land now that we have felt the sting of a humiliating defeat. Once again, congrats to the Celtics. I suppose Boston needed this to alleviate the sting of the Patriots losing. Just be warned; enjoy it while it lasts.

Let us all please stop the Jordan/Kobe comparisons!

Jordan would have never let his team get embarrassed by 39 points in the finals. Kobe failed to lead his team, set any type of tone, or even be a factor.

Jordan has dismantled some of the best defenses ever, sometimes singlehandedly, but most of all, he knows how to win!

Salvy_Mic

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the assessment that St. Kobe is nowhere in the ballpark of the Archangel MJ. Matter of fact, MJ is God. St. Kobe is merely one of his disciples.

No one in the future or history of professional basketball will touch what His Holy Airness Michael Jordan did. No one. I'm glad that St. Kobe wishes not to be compared to Him, because to be compared to Him, His Holy Airness, is simply unfair to St. Kobe.

All hail St. Kobe, the new patron saint of Los Angeles. He will lead us to the promised land, but even St. Kobe acknowledges he will never ascend to the godhood that His Holy Airness Michael Jordan reached.

*still highly drunk, although I think I would probably say something similar to this if I was sober*

Gotta love the Kobe hate. The guy lead a newly formed team without a big man to the NBA finals, and you can't put the finals loss completely on his shoulders. Odom and Gasol didn't even show up, and Phil Jackson had no response for the Celtics on offense or defense.

Oh well wait till next year when we get Bynum back. The Lakers got completely exposed this year, so they know they gotta tweak some things and come back even stronger next year. The man, Dr. Jerry Buss will make damn sure of that.
