I'm going to do a live PBP of the Mayweather vs. De La Hoya fight.

Anyone else that wants to contribute is welcome to do so.

Also, I have a link to a live stream. It's not so simple as just going to a website and watching the fight. First, you need to download a program to watch the fight. It's called SopCast, and you can find it here:
http://www.download.com/SopCast/3000-2424_4-10601521.html
or
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R2QPY7FI

Once you download that, install the program. When the program is installed and running, pm me and I will give you the address to the live stream.

Please, if you want to watch the fight, get the link from me before the fight starts. Thanks.

Maybe not so much a scholar though. I didn't really think about it, but with the live feed there's not really a reason for the PBP, lol.

Oh well. Thought that counts, right?

Main event should begin in about 15 minutes or so.

DLH being physical. Taking the center of the ring. PBF obviously the faster fighter though.

DLH trying to cut off the ring, being smart. He knows he can't outspeed PBF.

Round 1 over, solid round for both fighters. PBF looking more physically on tonight.
DLH is being smart, selective. Trying to bully PBF but he's not using his jab.

Noob

Round 2 starting. Round 1 probably PBF, but very close.

DLH trying to be really physical and doing a decent job. PBF is fast though. DLH still trying to cut the ring off.

DLH is pushing the pace a little more, if only because he's stalking.

DLH getting into a rhythm and the crowd is SOOOO behind him. They go crazy every time he does something.

SimpleJack
05-06-2007, 05:41 AM
DLH needs to listen to Freddie. Put some leather in his face and piss him off.

First round goes to Mayweather. He looked like he was feeling really comfortable and circled the whole round while De La Hoya held the center of the ring.

SimpleJack

Floyd is watching for that left hook a lot, and I mean a lot. He knows it's there.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:42 AM
DLH is getting a little rhythm going but it doesn't seemt to be phasing Mayweather. Mayweather's working his jab and moving to the outside, disrupting DLH's attempts to close the distance.

SimpleJack
05-06-2007, 05:42 AM
I don't think Floyd likes the feel of Oscar's power. Oscar is winning this round by pushing him around.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:43 AM
Mayweather is being really conscious of the left hook but doing a good job of keep Hoya at bay, making him reach.

Round 2 probably Hoya.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:46 AM
Mayweather is being cut off, but he doesn't look like he's in a big hurry to get out of the corner either. Not sure if that's a good thing or if he's being overconfident.

It's so weird having 3 minute rounds, they feel like they're over so soon.

De La Hoya really looking for that leaping left hook. PBF's jab is coming on, really quick with it too.

SimpleJack
05-06-2007, 05:47 AM
That reach advantage is noticeable. DLH can come over that jab and push PBF back. DLH controlling the pace. PBF does NOT like that power at all.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:47 AM
Mayeather doing a good job of keeping his distance, using footwork and jab. Near the end of the round, Hoya keeps coming in like a tank with hands up.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:51 AM
Mayweather looking more relaxed, DLH maybe looking a little more tense. Not tired yet, but more tense.

Got him up against the ropes, a good combo to the body, punches in bunches to the kidney, liver.

A little elbow, ref warns.

Back to the center of the ring, PBF looking better now, his quickness really makes a statement when they're in the center of the ring. Very much speed versus power so far. Open ring it's PBF, in the corner it's DLH.

End of round 4, little late punch by DLH.

PBF really has hand speed. It's showing at the beginning of 5. Oscar still walks him down and wins inside exchanges. PBF is trying to sharp shoot and getting eaten alive. MOst misses, but looks dominant.

Noob
05-06-2007, 05:55 AM
Round 5 starting now. DLH again with the power shots. PBF lands a couple really sharp shots, can hear them clearly.

More in-fighting, DLH slowing down just a little bit. Not tired or gassed yet, but Floyd definitely looks more fluid. DLH more bullying in the corner, cutting off the ring.

Floyd being smart, fighting sharp but it seems DLH is getting more hard shots in though he's starting to look more tired.

Every time they get near the ropes DLH unloads and lands hard, if blocked shots.

Nearing the end of round 5, against the ropes again, DLH putting in some good shots, PBF good head moveement.

Back in the center of the ring, PBF looking good again, hard fucking right hands from Floyd, one caught DLH good.

End of round 5.

SimpleJack

Start of round 6.

Center of the ring, DLH trying to cut off the ring, Floyd's quickness really becoming a factor. Circling well, using his jab. DLH not closing the ring as well.

In the corner, DLH chopping Floyd down, lands some good shots, mostly blocked. Mayweather defending against the ropes, good head movement.

Center of the ring again, Floyd's hand speed is now considerably faster than DLH and it's showing.

Moving around, DLH's head movement getting a little better, weaving well in the open ring. Good, solid right hand by Oscar. Lands well, gets a reaction from the crowd.

Quick left hook for Mayweather, answered by DLH with a combination.

Closing moments of round 6, round looks good for Oscar. More open ring circling.

Round 6 over, probably one for DLH.

Beginning of round 8.

Back in the cente rf the ring, DLH looks a little quicker, loose again.

Lederman card has 58-56, PBF.

In the corner, DLH unloading in the corner. Clinch, separated.

PBF is getting off first and faster, really controlling the entry for Oscar in the open ring. Very clear pattern of PBF advantage in the open ring, DLH advantage against the ropes.

PBF is backing up, using head motion, lead hand low, using his shoulder to protect his face. Not a lot of blocking, more head motion.

PBF lands two decent right hands, going over DLH's lead hand.

Mayweather lands a body shot, another one, this round is looking like Floyd's.

Clinch, separated. Open ring again, now against the ropes, DLH throws 4 or 5 punches but then backs off, enters to throw more, small exchange, round over.

"DLH was more active, Mayweather more accurate."

Beginning of round 8.

Oscar cutting the ring off right away, Floyd cirlces out well-timed.

Back in the center of the ring agin. DLH really pressuring the ring, trying to close it off more insistent than before.

Good three jpunch combo by DLH, up against the ropes, DLH unloading, really going at it.

Mayweather circles out, center of the ring again.

Good right hand, second one by PBF. DLH's jab has disappeared.

PBF is landing well, but one shot at a time, no combos. Lands another hard shot on De La Hoya.

DLH cutting the ring off again, PBF countering well, catches DLH two or three times.

Clinch, separated. Floyd is much faster, circling to the outside. Trading shots, PBF circling again. DLH trying to hunt him down again. Neither fighter landing a whole lot, blocking well.

In the corner, DLH going crazy. Damned good end to the round. One shot for each fighter at the end of the round.

End of round 8, I'd say DLH.

Beginning of round 9.

Fight looks pretty even so far.

Mayweather has been more accurate, but has not landed as many shots as DLH.

DLH pushing Floyd around, lands a few good shots. More jabs by Oscar, head movement by Floyd. Overhand right, left hook by PBF.

Open ring again, Floyd lands good series, DLH good head movement but still getting caught a few times.

DLH might be slowing down again, in the corner again, DLH doesn't pursue, PBF circles out.

In the corner again, DLH going nuts again, crowd reacts, good combination. Staying busy. Clinch, separated.

Good right hand by Mayweather. Center of the ring again, two punch combo by PBF.

Mayweather's jab coming back into focus. Clinch, separated. Hook by Floyd, end of round.

Hard round to call. Most likely PBF's round.

Start of round 10.

87-84 supposedly for PBF.

Center of the ring, trade a couple of shots. Against the ropes, DLH moves in, lands one good shot.

Floyd's jab still causing problems. DLH might be slowing down just a little bit. Still active, knows when to pour it on but in the open ring he's getting taken advantage of though defending well.

In the corner, another flurry.

Floyd does not look like the 2 to 1 favorite or whatever he was. This is probably his fight, but not by a 2-1 favorite's margin.

Back in the corner, PBF's cirlces out. DLH stalking but can't seem to locate him and pin him down. PBF's feet are staying sharp, moving well.

End of round 10, definitely a PBF round.

11 begins.

Last round definitely for Floyd.

Clinch early, good left hook for PBF.

DLH stalking again, good shot landed for PBF. No jab from DLH, leaving him open for PBF's selective shots.

Oscar's getting tired, becoming more obvious now. Back in the corner, couple of good shots for Oscar.

Open ring, PBF landing more and more often in the open ring. Picking his shots and landing most everything he wants.

Back into the corner, hard but blocked shots. PBF is putting on an open-ring clinic when they're in the center. Not being overly aggressive, but being smart and obviously better.

Crowd starts booing because Floyd is circling around, not engaging with DLH's advances.

Damned hard right hand by DLH, crowd responds. End of round 11.

12th round starting.

This is PBF's fight unless something happens.

Ref tells them to touch gloves when they come out.

Crowd making a ton of noise. DLH comes out stalking hard. Really upshing, hard combinations in the corner, PBF circles out. Osar hit hard by a right hand, DLH has no jab and PBF knows it, taking advantage of it.

DLH still stalking, slightly slower, PBF ducks an overhand right from a mile away. DLh look likes he's hunting for a big shot and Floyd knows it.

Crowd is chanting for De La Hoya, half the round gone. Mayweather is looking mush fresher, quicker, just looks to be the better boxer right now.

Up against the ropes, DLH unleashes a spirited combination to the body, Mayweather ties him up and laughs at him. Ref separates them and Floyd id still laughing openly at him.

Back to the center of the ring, last tend second DLH goes nuts, nothing happens, both exchange hard with the crowd going nuts.

Yeah, not buying the "save the sport" talk. The casual fan won't see this fight as exciting, but I enjoyed. DLH hit the wall in round 10 again, costing him the title (IMO).

It's also the opinion of the other two judges, all the comentators, and the unofficial score keepers. In fact the only people who disagree with the opinion are you two and one one judge who shouldn't be judging anymore. De La Hoya did well but it wasn't close enought to have some convalustion as to who won. If you have an argument then make it, but PBF clearly landed more punches, power punches, and perentage of punches. If that isn't a lopp-sidded result then I don't know what is. Maybe you two are gay for DLH and it is affecting you judgment.

If furiously punching PBFs arm counts as a punch landed then sure I could see where the people for DLH are coming from. All I saw from DLH was the ability to use his massive size advantage against PBF. I mean come on, if I'm not mistaken PBF has fought as low as 130, while although DLH used to fight at 133 in his older years he has fought as high as 160. Being the busier fighter doesn't mean shit if all your punches are landing on your opponents gloves and arms. I distinctly remember a point where DLH was repeatedly punching PBFs shoulder while PBF laughs. I think he was laughing at what a d-bag DLH is.

Punk Ass

I just think it was close based off of effective aggression. I thought DLH fought a smart fight, and hit PBF when he got a chance to. He cut the ring off, and wailed on him in the ropes. Something like what Tarver did to RJJ in their first fight. Sometimes effective aggression wins fights, and it did when DLH fought Pernell Whitaker (which many thought Pernell won.) I think DLH did the most damage and he threw more punches.

BTW, PBF's own father said he thinks DLH won the fight, I don't think he did, but some people disagree with you Palma.

I know people will disagree with me, but the least they can do is back it up with an argument like you just did. I agree that DLH fought a smart fight but he was only the aggressor is a couple of rounds and at the end of a few others. He was obviouslly tired by the 9th and had no shot of winning even at that point.

As far as Floyd sr. all I can say is he has personal reasons for saying what he said. It is common knowedge how he opperates as an individual and it has nothing to do with rationalizing a fight rather then acting from petty emotions.

No commentator said it was a draw. You are just making shit up now. What the fuck does arguing with other people have to do with our conversation and yes you're fucking gay. I gave you two posts with facts and you are babling something about your opinion so no, that obviouslly isn't the only thing I came up with. Quit being a bitch all the time about everything and if you admit that you don't know much about boxing then maybe you should shut the fuck up sometimes and actually learn something. There was nothing close about that fight and if you have anything besides your opinion and sand in your pre teen vagina then say something otherwise stfu you fucking crying bitch.

What are you on the rag? How am I crying about it? I said I thought DLH won, but I'm probably wrong. At least I can admit that, while you get your panties in a bunch. The commentators had it at 114-114. One commentator said that he gave Oscar 1 or 2 rounds, but he said they could go either way. Oscar lost, I'm not upset or sad over it, it happened, so what? Do they give points to the aggressor in boxing like the ufc or not (I'm nont sure how they mark fights)? Try not to be a complete asshole this time.

The fight was close until the 12th round and thats a fact. 2 judges scored the 12th for Oscar and the 3rd for Floyd now if that judge would have gave it to Oscar the fight would have been a draw. Don't argue with this statement because I'm correct lol kidding. No but I'm watching the break down of the fight and there telling the judges scores of each round an shit. So the fight was close and i smell a rematch about in Dec or Jan.
