It's called the "over 18" forum for a reason. If they aren't 18 or over it's their fault, we aren't held liable.

They should merely put a disclaimer stating that by entering the forum you accept that you are over the national age limit to view porn or that it is allowed in your country, ya know usual shit.

Personaly, I think this section cheapens our site. Now I'm not anti-porn but I think it will turn alot of people off when they come to the site. Personaly I try to keep my Porn and MMA seperate.

I never in my life thought I would say this, but:

I agree with Sundance in that this really shouldn't be a porn site. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that I would want any restrictions on porn, but having two little kids changes you in ways you can never imagine.

Think about it this way, as a parent would let their kid go to an MMA board that has this one little section for porn videos. The parent will not catch it, but 13-15 year old boys (and girls?) can sniff out porn on the internet from miles away.

This board doesn't need it, and there are tons of other free porn places to get stuff.

There is a way to have a password to access a forum. Like over at cfzforums you have to know the password to access the pics and vids section. That may be a good idea for the 18 and up forum. I know it will not be fullproof but it would help some. Or could keep porn and mma seperate like some have stated lol

It's not about youngsters. They can find anything that they want on the Internet. It DOES cheapen the site IMO.

I don't really see how myself, but I respect your opinion. There was a poll that ran for two weeks on the matter though (in site suggestions), and it seems you are in the minority. I know how you feel because there have been other decisions that I feel seriously harm the site's integrity, but I've been outvoted on. C'est la vie I suppose.

I think that polls that affect the direction of the site should be posted on the General page. I have never visited the Site Suggestions forum for the simple reason i am too busy reading about MMA. If I saw a poll that said "Should we allow a porn section on this site?" in the general section, I sure as hell would have voted.

Once again, I am not against porn, I am against it on this site.

I would be more supportive of it if there was some kind of age verification and password protected login to reach the forum. This would also protect the site against an criminal problems if a little kid managed to find his way in to that section.

I am not a lawyer, but legally, I don't think this site has its butt covered as much as the owners/mods think they do. I would hate to see this site go down in flames because of some little kid or, god forbid, someone posting something illegal.

Why not put another poll in the general section? I bet there is only a very small fraction of your members that reads the Site Suggestions forum.

I don't know if this is a hobby board or you are trying to make some money off of it, but I would talk to someone with more knowledge of the law and porn on the internet. You don't want to be throw in jail and then be known as the guy that let little kids see porn. The term "pokey" takes on a whole new meaning at that point.

since it's actually here, it looks trashy and de-values the site IMO.

And I think you being a mod devalues the site, but I was outvoted - democracy in action eh?

Why not put another poll in the general section? I bet there is only a very small fraction of your members that reads the Site Suggestions forum.

Do you have any reason to believe that the demographic who visit the Site Suggestions forum once a week or so is more likely to want a porn section? Besides, people who don't visit that forum to have their say basically forfeit their suggestion.

In addition, the reasons people are raising to try and lose the forum seem lemon to me. You think it looks trashy? That does no harm plus you are in the minority. You think it is legally suspect? The admin don't.

I agree with Clint - all this protest should be in Site Suggestions; this is a porn forum.

So who added this forum anyways? I mean sundance and noob said they are against it so i'm guessing they didnt. Anyways nothing wrong with porn but eventually its going to pick up speed and all the porn addicts that sit at home downloading porn all day will be over on this site. Then we'll have a big mess and ppl clicking on shit getting spyware and viruses... just not a good idea to tarnish an MMA forum that has a great reputation already.

I'm sure someone on these boards knows how to create a forum and they could make a forum strictly for porn seperate from mmanews. I just think in the long run this is not a good idea and the porn should be kept seperate from an mma board that the general public comes to visit.

Sorry we are trampling on ur precious porn forum Git lol. I mean it is regarding porn and whether it is good or not so it somewhat belongs. Just funny a few peeps are really fighting to have porn here when it takes a couple seconds to open another browser window and go look at porn elsewhere.

Not imo, it is about the presence of the forum, and since people are just making identical objections over and over and over, frankly the thread can fuck off. People had plenty of time to voice their concerns before anyway, the thread ran for 2 weeks before being actioned.

Yea well it only takes a few seconds to go to another mma forum, so your point is?

Well it seems nobody knew about the poll for this forum... not many ppl venture to the site suggestions area. I know i didnt know. Yeah i can avoid this area of the forum but that really isnt the point. I as well as many other are just looking out for the best interest of the mma forum we all love. This 18 and over area is small and simple right now but just wait and see what it turns into down the road, its not worth it.

Why in the hell would you want ppl who are here to go to a diff mma forum when they are already on a good mma news forum???? It is forums.mmanews.com not forums.mmanews/porn.com lol.

See I know u like this area Git cause u very rarely post ona nything regarding MMA unless it involves Bisping lol.

I've already explained this just a couple of posts ago...

If you want to guarantee you have a say, ie your suggestions are heard, you should visit that forum. Otherwise you are basically abstaining.

Also, why would the result change? There are plenty of people that would have voted yes that didn't see it also.

Why in the hell would you want ppl who are here to go to a diff mma forum when they are already on a good mma news forum????

I don't, you were saying why have porn here when there's porn seconds away, my counter was why have mma forums here when there are plenty of others seconds away? The answer is that we like to discuss mma here - maybe some of us like to share porn here too? :ass:

See I know u like this area Git cause u very rarely post ona nything regarding MMA unless it involves Bisping lol.

I discuss mma here often. I'm currently translating Manga's interpretation of the PRIDE sale for y'all (which is taking hours and hours). However, I enjoy the off topic discussions equally - I don't see how that makes me less of a participant.

Anyways... I am done. Everyone can keep bumping this off-topic thread if you insist, but I doubt you will be doing anything but repeating yourselves.

I'm done for now as well but seems many are voiceing their opinion of keeping MMA and porn seperate or finding a better way to secure this area. Some reason mods arent doin jack about it, which i found interesting as 2 of the mods have voiced that they are against it. I'm telling yall that it is going to be bad in the long run. Just wait and see once the pervs come by the masses and then we'll have ppl clicking on shit giving us spyware and viruses... ohhhhhh it will be just great! lol.

The other thing is that a lot of posters here have kids that like MMA as well and sucks they cant let them get on the boards to discuss MMA anymore unattended because all it takes is a couple clicks and they have gangbangs, cum shots and whatever else all over their monitor. Once again I like porn but there is a time and place. Dont think an MMA news forum is 1 of them... it will only bring this place down.

Ok, I said I was done (and I am) but I am curious about what you say here...

You said yourself that porn is only ever a few seconds away on the internet, so if a kid wants to get porn surely it makes no difference if it is available here or not?

Also, this site curses a lot and glorifies violence - is that not in the same league as porn? Imo they are maybe worse things for kids to learn/be exposed to than porn?

Finally, the rule before was that porn could be linked to, but now it is quarantined in its own forum - surely that is preferable if you have kids here?

Anyways, yeah it seems everyone who is strongly opposed to this forum has now had their say (several times over in some cases lol), and I have had mine so Que Sera Sera.

You pretty much tell it like it is, no one else needs to repeat themselves countless of times because you can do it for us! Like git said, if the posters have kids that like MMA isn't it a wee bit ironic that violence is so accepted but sexuality is not?

I agree with you that for some odd reason violence is more acceptable than sex (or sexuality), but there is a definite difference between seeing a naked woman (or man) and seeing a woman get DPed and then guzzle 3 guys loads while being called a "dirty whore slut".

Sexuality and nudity does not equal porn.

I don't own the board and am not employed by them, so I'm not responsible for shit. And if I was, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act provides that "[no] provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider," and that "[n]o cause of action may be brought and no liability may be imposed under any State or local law that is inconsistent with this section."

Effectively a message board operator cannot be held liable for the postings of others on said board. As reaffirmed in the 2007 Universal Communication Systems v. Lycos case (http://www.ca1.uscourts.gov/pdf.opinions/06-1826-01A.pdf).

I have a government security clearance. I know better than to do anything that could be illegal without researching that legality first.

It only grants immunity from torts (torts are civil actions as opposed to criminal, though sometimes torts can be criminal also).

Section E, parts 1 and 2 of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act

(e) Effect on other laws.

(1) No effect on criminal law. Nothing in this section shall be construed to impair the enforcement of section 223 or 231 of this Act [47 USCS 223 or 231], chapter 71 (relating to obscenity) or 110 (relating to sexual exploitation of children) of title 18, United States Code [18 USCS 1460 et seq. or 2251 et seq.], or any other Federal criminal statute.

(2) No effect on intellectual property law. Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit or expand any law pertaining to intellectual property.

Emphasis is mine.

True but section 71 was overturned by the supreme court and later replaced with COPA which was also overturned. Now the law in effect is CIPA which only really says that public computers have to use software to block porn.

Section 110 ia about child porn which isn't relevant since if anyone posts child porn, I'll report them to the ISP myself.

Either way people go vote in the new poll dammit.
